Does anyone know of a product that will take care of teenage-boy odors, but not leave any scent behind? My son%26#039;s room always smells kinda funny, but he doesn%26#039;t like the smell of air fresheners. There are so many choices at the store, but I have no idea what really works. Thanks!
Unscented Air Deodorizer?
Oust actually has an unscented spray. I am allergic to most fragranced sprays, so I was very excited to finally find this product. It smells just a little at first (basically enough so that you know it is actually spraying) and then goes away quickly.

What pet deodorizer works for you?
When we adopted our dog he was a little smelly. We washed him the first chance we got. He smells great now, but our house is holding the smell. What product can I use until I can open up all the windows on Saturday? What household pet products actually work?
What pet deodorizer works for you?
A product I found on QVC. Its called X-O. It is wonderful for eliminating any odor. There are several ways to use it. You can check it out on QVC.com. Don%26#039;t let the price scare you. The bottle is rather large and last forever because you mix with water. It takes out all my cat odor problems. Even got skunk smell of my dog. We were both happy about that. lol. My daughter has a room mate that uses it to eliminate her ferrets odor. Try it... it works
Reply:i use plug ins that go in your socket and they get rid of all doggy smells in the house,i also use bob martins deodorant spray for dogs it smells nice and lasts for days
Reply:Baking soda

What is a really good all-natural air freshener/deodorizer?
I am looking for a really good all-natural air freshener/deodorizer that last a long time but is not full of harmful chemicals. I love for my house to smell good but my kids have allergies and can%26#039;t tolerate most of the air fresheners on the market. Any suggestions?
What is a really good all-natural air freshener/deodorizer?
A great way is to use essential oils. 30-40 drops of a favourite oil mixed with 1.5oz of distilled water and 1.5oz of high proof alcohol (vodka is suitable, rubbing alcohol is not) if you do not want to use alcohol use another 1.5oz of water. Put in a spray bottle
examples of some good blends
-20 drops of lime, 14 drops bergamot, 4 drops ylang ylang
-15 drops bergamot, 15 drops spearmint
or which oils you like
Reply:Try baking soda, cinnamon, mint, anything that smells good to you and is fairly aromatic should do the job. Try Googling to see if you can make some home made potpourris.
Reply:You can also try cedar, some flowers. Google potpourri.
Reply:Citrus makes an excellent air freshner as well....like oranges, lemons or limes an air purifier works too
Reply:Try cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, or whatever you have in your spice rack that you like the scent of. Simmer it on top of your stove but watch that it doesn%26#039;t dry out. You can also put some dryer sheets in the heat vents of your home. Hope it helps.

Reply:You can simmer stuff on the stove
Or you can put cinnamon, cloves, whatever and put them in the oven on low heat.
I like putting vinager in the washing machine when I wash my throws or my towels it helps get ride of smell with out adding chemical smells
Or you can sprinkle baking soda on the carpet and vacuum it up
this would work with any powder.
Reply:I like to simmer some cinnamon and nutmeg in a little sauce pan on the stove. And I sprinkle some dry on my carpet when I vacuum.

Have you heard any bad things about Tidy Cats cat litter deodorizer?
My mother just called to inform me she heard pet experts are advising people not to use powder litter deodorizer. I searched online and couldn%26#039;t find anything about it (though I already know many people refuse to use scoopable litter because of the dusts). She claims she heard it causes cancer or something, but I don%26#039;t know if I believe that.
I%26#039;ve considered using baking soda instead of the flowery-scented Tidy Cats, but the only thing mixing baking soda into the litter does is cause the baking soda, which absorbs the smell, to stink anyway, which defeats the purpose of using it at all. I dunno. Is the litter deodorizer bad?
Have you heard any bad things about Tidy Cats cat litter deodorizer?
This sounds like an %26quot;Old Queen%26#039;s Tale%26quot;. Please check with your vet. I use it because it has better odor control than most of the others. The dust is just clay, the main ingredient in nearly all litters. Clay can form a fine dust as any one who works with it knows. The refusal to use scoopable is because the clay dust is somewhat worse than the regular clay litter, but not really that much. The newer Tidy cat litters are better about dust control.
Reply:no i havent heard that, it shouldnt harm them
Reply:this is easy just keep your litter box changed every day.
Reply:no i use it and it works good for my cat:)

Reply:I have never heard that before. I use arm and hammer deoderizer anyway, but I%26#039;ve never heard bad things about Tidy Cats. Call your vet, and ask, they can keep you up to date on any recent recalls.

How do I clean Renuzit Apple & Cinnamon cone deodorizer out of my carpet?
I left the cone deodorizer in my car, it got hot, melted some, spilled when I opened it--dripped on my new dining area carpet!
How do I clean Renuzit Apple %26amp; Cinnamon cone deodorizer out of my carpet?
Okay, I%26#039;ve never experienced this as I%26#039;ve never used those types of air fresheners, but being a mom for 27 years and still have lots of kids at home, this is what I%26#039;d try:
Melt the waxy part using a hair dryer and blotting up as much as you can using paper towels. Then use some dry cleaning spot remover. I recommend everyone have one of those home dry cleaning kits available at most stores in the laundry isle. Follow the directions with the spot remover blotting up the spot left behind. You could also try cleaning it with a new or very clean kitchen sponge and blotting it with rubbing alcohol. Good luck! And do let us know what worked for you!
Reply:You can either buy or rent a carpet cleaner or you can just buy a steamer. Steamers are small and can be bought for under $100.00 and they are great to use for many, many things. Most models and brand steamers use plain water and is safe for most carpet. Then if ever anything else spills you can use it again. Also did you know that if you have children, babies, pets around your home it is not safe to have there are new reports that it is contributing to global warming and putting toxic waste in the enviroment as well. There are studies that are being conducted for autism links. It is a scary thing for me as well cause I have a 10 month old baby that until recently I had been using air freshners (constantly) around since she was born. Anyway good luck with your carpet cleaning.

Has anyone used Marshall Ferret Bi-Odor Waste Deodorizer?
Has anyone used Marshall Ferret Bi-Odor Waste Deodorizer for their ferret or other small animal and does the stuff work.
Has anyone used Marshall Ferret Bi-Odor Waste Deodorizer?
Yes, I use it for both of my ferrets. It works! I know that it is kind of pricey, but it is so worth it.
When we brought home our youngest kit, her waste was foul. I don%26#039;t know what the pet store was feeding her, but it didn%26#039;t smell good at all. We immediately started adding this to their water, and it has definitely toned it down a few notches.

Reply:I just checked into Marshall Farms as the one person suggested. I will not buy this product regardless of how it works. I do not like what this company does to animals. Report It
Reply:Keeping your ferrets or small animals cage properly cleaned is what helps.
Personally...letting your animal ingest anything that says it makes your poo or pee odorless doesn%26#039;t seem safe to me! And lets face it...have you done your research on Marshall Farms lately? They are not exactly the type of people you should be trusting of when it comes to your pets.

I'd like to make my own fabric deodorizer please.?
I%26#039;m wanting to make a deodorizer that I can spray onto my fabric lounge suite and curtains etc to neutralize cigarette smoke smells.
Thanks in advance for all help given.
Bruja279
I%26#039;d like to make my own fabric deodorizer please.?
I fill a spray container with water and add two or three drops of clear baking vanilla - more or less depending on the scent you like (test this for staining on a small area of the fabric BEFORE you spray)
I also saturate cottonballs with the same clear baking vanilla and place them around the room.
that being said; one redi made container of spray specifically made for deodorizing fabric can be made into 4 bottles which are be just as effective at killing odors by adding 1 part fabric spray to 3 parts distilled water.
Reply:Fill an empty spray bottle with water and two or three table spoons of downey fabric softner. Mix or shake well and spray on desired area. Febreeze works great too. Taking down and machine washing curtains every 3 or 4 weeks helps also. Hope this helps
Reply:good luck! heres a tip! dont smoke!! ull get lung cancer and tar in ur lungs~~!~~

Suitcase Deodorizer?
I have a couple of suitcases that kind of stink and I was wondering what would be best for taking the smell out? Anything I can just leave in there or do I need to clean it with something? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
Suitcase Deodorizer?
Try sprinkling some fresh baking soda inside the suitcase and leaving it for half an hour or so. Leave it longer if the suitcase is REALLY stinky. The baking soda absorbs bad smells and doesn%26#039;t leave an odor. You may want to pour it out and then vacuum the inside of the suitcase to take all the baking soda out when you%26#039;re done. Make sure the baking soda is FRESH and not from the box you%26#039;ve had sitting in your fridge for a month. That should do the trick.
Reply:Every vacation, I put one of those tiny bars of soap from the hotel in my suitcase, unwrapped....
It makes the suitcase and the laundry coming home smell fresh.
Reply:Baking soda/fabric softner sheets. Both help with odor.
Reply:Febreeze...
Some ceder blocks will help...after the fact...also help keep thebugs away. :D
Wash them with soap %26amp; warm water - use a damp (not wet) cloth or sponge
Reply:And if that didn%26#039;t work, take them outside and put a few lumps of charcoal or baking soda on a paper plate inside each one after scrubbing them. It sounds like mildew.
Reply:Try _Odo ban_.
It is amazing stuff.
Air it out and put some dryer sheets inside before closing.
Reply:i would use a little febreze and leave a couple of dryer sheets in them.
Reply:Setting an open box or bowl of baking soda inside then closing the suitcase might help a lot. Vinegar is also a good odor absorber but you would have to be very careful about not spilling that. If letting something like the soda sit in there for a couple of days doesn%26#039;t work then you will probably have to move up to actually cleaning the suitcase. The best way of doing that will depend on what it%26#039;s made out of.
Hope the soda works! *:*
Reply:The best thing for your suitcases is plenty fresh air. leave them outside for the day. You can also sponge them down with a little water with a touch of lemon . then put them outside
Reply:What about leaving them open in the hot sun or open in a hot car to bake for a few days to a week.
Store them propped open.with bars of soap (with a pleasant odor) in them if you have space in your house.
Next time: Before leaving home, pack a few big plastic garbage bags and large brown grocery bags. On vacation, put dirty clothes in a big PAPER grocery bag. Same for shoes. Then when packing your luggage for your trip home, lower the dirty paper bag of laundry /or shoes in big plastic bags. The paper bag absorbs the moisture. When you arrive home, take all dirty laundry and shoes out of your luggage right away.

Air Deodorizer / Air Cleaner help?
Hi Everyone,
First time using this, and it%26#039;s because I%26#039;m desperate for help.
My Question is this:
My roomate who lives with me, always stays in his room (yes its terrible), and the thing is he often eats takeout in his room and doesnt throw it away right away, so it starts to smell up his room, and it leaks into the apartment. I%26#039;ve asked him to clean up more often but being in university, hes often busy which is understandable.
So I%26#039;ve tried the plug in air fresheners but I think MASKING the problem isn%26#039;t effective as solving it. I want to know if anyone has any good recommendations for a machine that effectively eliminates ODORS as the top priority?
I%26#039;m a bit confused as to whether air cleaners / air purifiers actually tackle the odor issue as well? For example, the Surround Air XJ2100 or the Ionic Breeze. Most of these focus on cleaning the air from allergens etc., not really the ODOR in the air.
Hope you guys can help. Thanks so much!
Air Deodorizer / Air Cleaner help?
I%26#039;ve never used either of the systems you mentioned. I think the solution, however, lies in throwing the food out before the smell begins to permeate the rest of the apartment. Surely, he could keep a trash bag for leftovers and food scraps in his room. He could bring it out to the kitchen once a day for disposal with the rest of the garbage.
My concern would be that the food scraps may attract roaches and ants.
I would come up with a solution to solve the problem, not cover it up. Good luck.
Reply:Febreeze ,febreeze .Spray the drapes or curtains ,spray the mattress ,the carpet ,his clothes ,its safe on fabric ,buy a plug in also ,Girl get you some and go wild or nuts spraying ,who cares .
open the windows also .
I would have a nice talking with your roommate ,don%26#039;t allow food in the bedrooms.I%26#039;m sure you have a kitchen or dinning room .
just imagine all the ants ,or fleas come on take control of the situation .Its your place also .What does it say about yourself?
Reply:Being busy is no excuse for being selfish.
It doesn%26#039;t take that much extra time for him to throw his food out in a place that doesn%26#039;t disturb his roommates.
Unless you can tell him either not to eat in his room or to throw the food out in a place which is not going to smell up the apartment youre going to have to open the windows and air the place out, it%26#039;s the only way.
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard OUST is good. It actually kills the bacteria that causes the bad smell.
If you are just wanting to cover it up- use febreez, candles, fragrance lamps or sprays.

If you are just wanting to cover it up- use febreez, candles, fragrance lamps or sprays.

put two drops of vanilla directly onto a lightbulb in the room and when it heats up it will smell good.

Help. Duffle bag still smells like room deodorizer from cruise.?
We went on a carnival cruise in May and noticed our plastic duffle bag smelled like the room deodorizer that was used in the cabin. I%26#039;ve tried airing it out in the sun and spraying it with Lysol to get rid of the smell. Nothing has worked. I stored the bag in my closet hoping the problem would just go away in time and now my closet and everything in it smells as well. I would appreciate any ideas on how to get rid of the smell from the closet and duffle bag. Thanks in advance.
Help. Duffle bag still smells like room deodorizer from cruise.?
try placing an open box of baking soda in the closet with the bag for a week-that should take the smell out--good luck!!!
Reply:Wash the duffle bag gently with a mixture of vinegar and water....about 1 part vinegar with 5 parts water. Let the vinegar %26amp; water sit on it for a while. If that doesn%26#039;t work, you can use a product that eliminates odors..such as Feebrez...
Reply:If you can, by all means wash it! Several times if necessary. You could then try activated charcoal, you can get it from a pet shop that sells fish tank supplies. This absorbs odors best. Maybe try some odor eaters for shoes, if that doesn%26#039;t work. Febreze might work too but it might just wear off after awhile...best would be to put it setting open in the garage or other airy place where it can air out over time and the smell will dissipate...unless your garage smells bad too...that must be some nasty room deodorizer they use on Carnival Cruises...ugh!
Reply:You could try washing the bag and letting it air dry outside. As for the closet... you could take everything out for air, or try some febreeze or another air freshener placed inside the closet.

Good deodorizer for tennis shoes that have been left out in the rain?
Left my tennis shoes on the front porch a couple of nights ago and they got soaked by a rain storm, the tennis shoes are dry now, but what a stink. Do I have to throw them away or is there something that will get the stink and dampness out on the inside? Home remedies welcome. Thanks.
Good deodorizer for tennis shoes that have been left out in the rain?
Wash the tennis shoes in the washing machine with some towels and regular detergent add 1c. of baking soda to the water... Let them air dry.. Use a fan to speed up process or let them air dry in the sun... Good luck
Reply:the best way i found is put in washer like u would towels
Reply:Spray them with a mixture of vinegar and water. Then stuff the insides with dry newspaper. You may have to leave them awhile, or even change the newspaper. But vinegar and water will remove odors from just about anything, and newspaper absorbs moisture.

Dog deodorizer?
we have a big english mastiff and every obce in a while i throw water with soap and bleach for the smell on the gravel but it doesn%26#039;t work very well. what would?
Dog deodorizer?
try adding cup of apple cider vinegar to the bath.

Reply:bleach is probably killing the bacteria that would naturally break the smell down. pure wood ash is the best thing to use, sluiced down with plain water or lots of bicarbonate of soda, but it depends if a female or a male.

Basement deodorizer?
I recently had a central air and heat system installed in my basement and I find the system is sucking up an odor which is damp and musty. What can I use to get rid of the scent?
Basement deodorizer?
I found an absorbent at Home Depot that actually works. It%26#039;s a bag that contains small rocks that absorb smells.

Reply:maybe check with the contractor to see if everything was installed properly.......should not be that way.
Or there is something wrong in your basement.....a leak or something..maybe your basement has had recent floodings ?
Badly installed windows......could be a number of things.
I don%26#039;t have this problem but that is what I would do if I did.
PS : agree with the first answerer but ....if your basement is secure, you should not experience any bad smell..

Deodorizer for crawlspace?
I just discovered my neighbor%26#039;s cat has been using the crawlspace under my house as a litterbox. I probably would never have known if not for the heat wave we are experiencing in my state right now. It smells like a litter box in the back of my kitchen which is directly above the furthest corner of the crawlspace, totally out of reach - of course. I can%26#039;t get into the opening the cat is using, and I wouldn%26#039;t want to if I could - is there something I can throw in there to help with the smell before I seal it up for good? (Don%26#039;t worry, I%26#039;ll make sure the cat is out before I seal anything up.)
I thought of throwing %26quot;Stick Ups%26quot; back there - tossing them like Frisbees as far back as I can get them, but that will just cover the smell, not get rid of it. Any creative ideas?
Deodorizer for crawlspace?
moth balls will work.a handful thrown in the general direction will take care of the smell.you need to cover up the access.good luck
Reply:Lime (powder) - wash well after handling
Reply:Baking soda! it absorbs the smell of anything. It%26#039;s also environmentally friendly, safe for animals. I%26#039;m not sure how you could get it back there though, you kind of have to sprinkle it over everywhere. Lol, you can get a leaf blower going and sprinkle the baking soda in front of it and blow it under there.
Reply:shes right baking soda!!! or a certain kind of baking soda that has cinnimom like for carpet.

Can I use an alcohol-free deodorizer spray on my ferret??
I got a bottle of deodorizer spray from Wal-Mart called Perfect Scents. It is some herbal blend that is also alcohol free, so it%26#039;s supposed to be safe to use daily on animals. I got it for my chihuahuas to use on them in between baths, but I am getting a ferret in the next few days and I%26#039;m wondering if this product would be safe for her as well. I%26#039;ve tried searching online for this product to see what it says about use on other small animals, but I can%26#039;t find a website for this at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Can I use an alcohol-free deodorizer spray on my ferret??
I would be careful using that spray on a ferret. Talk to you vet first. Ferrets skin can be sensitive to different things, and I would hate to see you use it and the ferrret react badly.
They do make a deodorizer for ferrets. 8 in 1 makes one that I use on my babies. They also make a shampoo that is nice. It is scented with cucumber mellon. Both also have skin conditioners in them.
Reply:most products have a 1800 number on the label I would call it first. Ferrets have sensitive noses (hence the scent glands), but it may be alright.
Reply:Most pet stores will sell deodorizer sprays that are made just for ferrets. If you are unsure about the product you currently have, I%26#039;d recommend that. I use the Marshall brand deodorizer spray on my ferrets and it works great.
Reply:aviiod the face but yea, use a little
Reply:go ahead, spray the little smelly one
Reply:I would say that ot can. Read the back of the bottle though just to make sure. It should list anytypes of problems and stuff like that on there.

What could I use as a natural deodorizer in my bedroom for my birds?
What could I use in my bedroom as a natural deodorizer that will not harm them or cause problems in anyway!
I have 15 birds in my bedroom (6 cockatiels) (2 lovebirds) (3 canaries) (4 budgies). Alot, I know its not healthy because of the dust. I clean thier cages everyday I change the paper and wash out food and water bowls and it still smells! I need a natural deodorizer! You see there is no where else in my house to put them...
What could I use as a natural deodorizer in my bedroom for my birds?
Baking soda absorbs odors. Place several open boxes at various places around your room.
You really should find other homes for some of these birds. You run a big risk of getting a lung condition, no matter how careful you are. Just cleaning the cages exposes you to dust, mites and fungus, and possibly to disease. It may not be a healthy environment for the birds, either.
Reply:Potpurri. Sorry, i dont know how to spell it. Or just air fresheners. It could be as simple as leaving the window open.
Reply:If the accessories (cage and bowls) are in glass or metal you could soak them in boiling water to which you add two or three teaspoons of distilled white vinegar. If the accessories are plastic (which is probably the case because plastic retains smells), then don%26#039;t try to boil them or they will melt in no time, instead let them soak in the same solution but at room temperature. If it%26#039;s your room that you want to deodorize, then bring the pan with the boiling mix of water and vinegar into your room and let it sit until cooled. Try to minimize the amount of fabric that is present in your room (rug, carpet, linen, etc.) as they retain smells as well. Hope this will help...

Reply:I have 5 budgies in one room. They don%26#039;t smell, except for when I feed them veggies and it drops somewhere I can%26#039;t find it! Part of the reason they don%26#039;t smell is because we have a large window opened most of the time which is covered with a fly screen. Have you considered getting fly screens installed on all you windows and leaving them open? (expect for when it gets really cold!)
Don%26#039;t use the potpourri stuff, because to most birds it looks like a tasty treat and they will readily eat it, which can be very very bad.
Are you sure you are giving all your birds the proper care they need to lead healthy and happy lives? Are tehir cages big enough? Do they get enough free flying time out of tehir cages? I%26#039;m not sure how they could be as lovebirds can%26#039;t be let out with other types of birds a they are quite vicious. Are they getting the right diet? Birds need a lot fresh fruit and veggies as well as other foods to stay healthy. Do they have enough toys and are these toys often changed so they do not get bored with them? Is your room bright enough?
Is there enough room for all of them?
Have you considered trying to find good homes for some of them? Or even building a large aviary and slowly transitioning some of the compatible birds (such as the cockateils and budgies) into it. If you do this make sure it%26#039;s large enough so they can get away form each other and have alone time, there are places where they can stay warm and dry and that you make the change into the aviary slowly, as doing it quickly can cause the birds to become sick, stressed or even die because of the different conditions.
Baking soda is the only thing I can think of, just make sure your birds can%26#039;t eat it!
Don%26#039;t use any sprays as these will harm your birds lungs, no matter how safe they say they are for humans.

What is the best deodorizer for wastewater considering the large tank, economical and not harmful to organisns
In wastewater treatment, we are culturing the microorganisms to consume all the organic waste and then to pass our effluent to the standard.our problem is that the waste became so smelly ( offensive) that we need to add some deodorizer but dont cost as that much.pls help. thanks
What is the best deodorizer for wastewater considering the large tank, economical and not harmful to organisns
The way to prevent the smell is to kill the microorganisms that make it smell. Of course, that will stop the microorganisms from working on the organic waste.
I%26#039;m thinking that your process is being contaminated with other microorganisms, in which case you need to sterilize incoming wastewater with heat or UV before inoculating it with your microorganism.
Another idea sould be to recirculate the smelly air and extract the methane gas to help power the plant.
Humans generate a lot of the greenhouse gas methane. We need to answer this question.
Reply:Another option is to get the DO up. It sounds like you are allowing the waste to go septic. The DO needs to be kept above 2 mg/L at all times.

What's the best deodorizer for a hamster cage?
i change the bedding whenever it starts to get too dirty and smells bad. but i need a good deodorizer too.
What%26#039;s the best deodorizer for a hamster cage?
i havent had hamsters for a whlile, but i%26#039;d think some baking soda mixed in with their shavings at the bottom of their cage will help absorb the odors that they make from %26quot;going.%26quot; Also in their section of the petstore check to see if they have other solutions that you can use. Just thinking if some of those are baking soda based, it will be cheaper to use products like that.

Do those little deodorizer balls work at eliminating hockey stank?
Alright, my hockey bag is stanking up my office right now...but I have seen little deodorizer balls that are supposed to eliminate the dreaded bag scent. Anybody try them???
Ordinarily, I associate balls with smelling bad, so you can see why I%26#039;m skeptical.
Do those little deodorizer balls work at eliminating hockey stank?
LITY hasn%26#039;t been around much this week, but he answered a similar question with soap shavings in the bottom of the bag, his personal choice was Irish Spring. I tried it with Ivory and found that it did in fact help. I have only been doing it for about a week now but I have noticed a difference.

i bought some at the proshop at my rink and they didnt techincally get rid of the smell, but the kindof neutralize and make the bag smell like the scent.

I inhaled carpet deodorizer. Help, what should I do to feel better?
I thought I was spraying air freshner, but without looking at the label I sprayed carpet deodorizer instead. Little puffs of foam went into the air and I inhaled some of them. I got fresh air right away, but now my throat is sore, my lungs hurt and I have this yucky taste in my mouth. Should i seek medical help, or are these uncomfortable reactions just temporary? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is important to note that many toxins lurk inside your carpet. You might be surprised to learn that some older carpets can literally contain pounds of dust mites, dirt, pesticides and other toxins brought in on shoes, feet and pet%26#039;s paws. However, while it is necessary to clean your carpet from these allergens and toxic dust, you should not have to put your health at even greater risk in the process.
Like other cleaning agents, carpet cleaners contain known cancer causing agents and many other harsh components linked with various ailments and disorders. Although probably not listed on the label, in general, you are likely to find the following health jeopardizing chemicals in most carpet cleaners:
*
Perchloroethylene - A known human carcinogen which can have immediate central nervous system (CNS) effects including dizziness, sleepiness, nausea, tremors and disorientation as well as long-term CNS effects.
*
Ethanol - Defined as a hazardous waste by the EPA, exposure symptoms include fatigue, eyes and upper respiratory tract irritation (even in low concentrations). Inhalation of ethanol vapors can have effects similar to those of ingestion and can cause CNS disorders.
*
Napthalene -- Described by the Condensed Chemical Dictionary as %26quot;toxic by inhalation%26quot;.
*
Butyl cellosolve - A central nervous system toxin.
*
Monoethanolamine - Linked to liver, kidney and reproductive damage as well as depressionof the central nervous system, inhaling high concentrations may cause dizziness and even coma.
*
Propylene glycol methyl ether - An eye, skin and respiratory irritant.
*
1,4-dioxane -- A known carcinogen.
*
Ammonia and potentially harmful fragrances - in areas where there is a large quantity of carpet, the amount of chemicals released from carpet cleaners and deodorizers can be considerable.
Bottom line- you should call poisen control + if you feel that its getting worse, call 911 or get someone to take you to the ER pronto!!!!!!!!

Is there a deodorizer that I can pour down my kitchen sink to eliminate odor?
Not sure why, but my sink smells bad. I don%26#039;t have a garbage disposer, just a regular kitchen sink. I am looking for a deodorizer to pour down it to eliminate odor. Thanks so much!
Is there a deodorizer that I can pour down my kitchen sink to eliminate odor?
There is probably food stuck in there and rotting. You need to clean out the plumbing.
Pour half a box of baking soda in the drain. Then, pour half a bottle of plain vinegar. Let it bubble up and dissolve for 20 to 30 minutes. Then pour scalding hot water down the drain. Repeat if necessary.
Reply:I dump bleach down mine to help. It works.
Reply:You can pour some bleach or ammonia down onto the drain. A cup or so and not run the water for a while that will kill the bacteria that causes odors and after that you can squeeze a lemon and leave the leftover lemon in the sink or drain to continue deodorizing.
Reply:Try bleach, and don%26#039;t run the tap for an hour after you%26#039;ve poured it. (It%26#039;ll probably say two-three minutes on the bottle, but just ignore that)
Reply:Open a humble box of baking soda, for under $0.80. That will do it.
Reply:My sink stinks sometimes to, I normally pour some bleach down the sink and it clears up the odor and makes it smell much more fresh. I think feed particles and goo gets stuck in the trap and causes the odor, so if the drainage is slow, you may have a gob of something stuck in there cause it to smell, use Drano to clear up the pipes and make them run smoothly again. Good luck!
Reply:use a clogged drain remover,u get in can its faomy,no deodizer will help if clogged.
Reply:i use SCD EM or SCD Odor Away. its a natural microbe that eats gunk. its kind of the same idea your plumber would use to eat away at stuff. (my plumber did some kind of microbial service thing to get rid of tree roots/gunk or something - only they pair theirs with chemicals too.)
EM you can pour down your drains or sink and the smell/gnats, whatever, whenver you need to. it will go away pretty quick. does for me anyway.
Reply:Try this, it for sure works. Amonia either lemon scent or plain. After doing the dishes at night or before work as long as no one will need to use the sink.Besides amonia has a very strong odor. But thats what it takes,to remove your sinks bad odor problem. Anyway, pour about one cup directly in the drain.I have at times put the plug in after to keep that amonia smell away. Let it sit at least 1 hour, and then run the hottest water for about 3 minutes. If the fist time doesnt drastically help, do it again let sit longer than first time. After do once a month.
Reply:I like to use baking soda. After the dishes are done dump a bunch down there and let it do tis thing. Dont run water on it until you have to
Reply:Just use baking soda, at least every three days. Cheap and works effectively.
Reply:Yuck!

Reply:I use bleach. May be problem with drain trap.
Reply:They have these lil ball (they look like candy) and there lemon scented. you throw one in, turn on the garbage disposal and it helps clear out food and makes it smell fresh!
Reply:Just a shot, but if it is a kitchen sink it probably has two bowls. Both of those bowls should have a P-trap underneath them. That trap holds a little bit of water at all times to keep sewer gases from escaping back through the drain and into your kitchen. If you only use one of those bowls, the other trap may have run dry and sewer gases are escaping through it. Just run some water into that sink and it may stop the smell.
Reply:Pour a cup of vinegar down your drains every week, it not only makes them smell clean it cuts up any grease thats lodged down there and keeps it from getting clogged.
Reply:pour one any of these down the sink
peroxide
ammonia
baking soda
vinegar
Reply:lemon juice, or baking soda.
Reply:I would try a drain cleaner first. Some %26quot;gunk%26quot; may be sticking to the sides of the pipes. Then poor some bleach down there in case there is any mold or mildew.
One product that works great is Odo-Ban. You can get it at Sam%26#039;s Club and Wal-Mart. This works great for other areas of concern; I bet it would be good for drains, too.
Reply:you should not get many smells from your drain, there is only about 4 - 6 inches of pipe that you should smell after that the trap will stop anything from coming back up. make sure you have a trap on the line, it is a u shape that drops down and comes back up.

First use a foamy drain cleaner to clear the pipe..
If it still smells... Bleach... Fill you sink with Hot water and ADD 2 cups of bleach to it..... then drain it
Do this to both sides of the sink at the same time..each side gets 2 cups bleach
BUT do not mix this bleach water with any other cleaners not even dish soap.. or splash on you as it will take out color

What chemical in a deodorizer eliminates odor?

What chemical in a deodorizer eliminates odor?
Those are strong flavonoids and aromatics.
Reply:I think most of them just cover odors up. I%26#039;ve also been told that some actually numb your smell senses.
Personally, I stay away from these. Here%26#039;s an inexpensive and fragrance free solution - I found the perfect product for this and know many other people that use it. It is a natural fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn%26#039;t get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets, etc. and just don%26#039;t eliminate odors. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it%26#039;s that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and Internet at customerservice@innofresh.com.
Definitely worth trying

Anyone have a "recipe" for a Natural Deodorizer for Dogs that really works?
When I bring my dog in from the outside after her walk, she has a very strong doggie odor. I realize that she is a dog, and she will smell to a degree, but it is very strong right after her walk (and even worse if it is hot, humid and/or damp/raining outside). I saw at the pet store, they have all kinds of deodorizers, but they all seem to be a perfume that would simply mask the odor.
I was wondering if any one out there knows of a natural deodorizer that can be made at home? I read about a natural deodorant for people that is made of baking soda (natural deodorizer) and corn starch (supposedly healthier because it does not contain talc). I wonder if some thing like that could be used with dogs?
I prefer not to put chemicals on my dog or make her smell like a perfume factory!!
I did read about using a fabric softener sheet, but I have to wonder how good that is since dogs do lick their fur, and I would think that the chemicals could be ingested.
Anyone??
Anyone have a %26quot;recipe%26quot; for a Natural Deodorizer for Dogs that really works?
There are baking soda sprays that can be purchased for peoples feet/shoes that will not harm your dog and will work (I%26#039;ve used it on my dog while we were camping and she got sprayed by a skunk, it helped until I could get home to bath her properly)
Reply:The fabric softener sheets do work and should not hurt your dog.
Reply:Try Earthbath Hypo Allergenic Shampoo. It is made from a blend of natural ingredients. It is mild, safe and non-irritating to the dogs skin. It will leave your dog with a clean, soft fresh smelling coat.
You might check to see if your dog has any skin irritations such as dermatitis which can be quite smelly. Licking and chewing can also cause an unpleasant smell.
Keeping your dog clean, brushing her teeth, and cleaning her ears should do the trick.
Reply:that is one weird question. sorry, cant help ya
Reply:put a %26#039;tree tea flea collar%26#039; on him, will have him smelling lovely. worked for my dog, hope this helps
Reply:Baking soda is the best and safest. Rub into your baby%26#039;s fur and brush out the excess--will aslo help remove excess oils too! :)
Reply:This may sound odd, but plain old vinegar mixed with ketchup can do wonders. Use about half and half mix.
Basically use it as a shampoo, and after she%26#039;s dry go back and sprinkle with baking soda, let it set for a couple of minutes, brush really well, and she should be deodorized %26#039;Au naturale%26#039;.
Just need a good place outdoors to do this, because the baking soda can make a mess. Good luck.
Reply:I use baking soda to get pet smells out of my carpet, though I doubt it should be applied to the dog. I would concider a trip to your vet to see if she has some sort of skin problem that is being flared up by the heat and humidity. What she has going on sounds like something a little worse than just doggie smells. If a trip is very inconvenient or too pricey, give a call to a vet%26#039;s office or your local humane society and see what they think it may be, or if there are any good remedies for over-the-top doggie stink. But it could be a skin problem.

Room deodorizer?
I currently rent in a duplex, and the air is shared among my rental unit and the other unit. Because the air is shared, the smell of food is very apparent in my unit. To counteract the smell I would like to get a deodorizer that is effective in removing the food odour. I have tried many deodorizers that have either been too strong or too weak, and I am still looking for a deodorizer that meets my needs.
So my question is:
What is the best plug-in deodorizer available in common household stores? (e.g. zehrs, iga, home hardware, etc)
- My needs in a deodorizer is:
1) Must be a plug-in deodorizer
2) Lasts for quite a while
3) Must be commonly available (in common stores)
4) Must be able to cover the scent of food.
- Thanks,
Andy
Room deodorizer?
I would make a filter to fit over or under the vents in my duplex I Used old small coffee cans and put holes around the top for wires and hung them inside from the bottom of the register covers I fill the with liquid potpourri so every time the heat kicks on the air gets a nice smell , When I cook with Garlic which is almost every day I light scented candles or a potpourri burner while I%26#039;m cleaning up.I gave up on electric plug ins and had to get creative I love cooking but I don%26#039;t want to smell it after the meal.
Reply:no such thing andy its all about keeping the whole place clean and changing the ac filters very often prevention is the rule of thumb here also using simple things like baking soda in the fridge cleaning garbage disposal regularly etc etc you cant cover up dirt you can make your house smell pleasant after its cleaned by a good scented candle and that costs as well but worth it. wash all utensils after use dump trash daily you will be amazed at the result also clean the sove and fridge regularly and frequently

How do I get rid of the cooked food smell in my microwave (already tried many cleaners with deodorizers)?
wash the inside with lemon juice and then a mixture of baking soda and water. 1/4 cup soda to 3 cups water and then wipe with clear water
try it it works
How do I get rid of the cooked food smell in my microwave (already tried many cleaners with deodorizers)?
baking soda...(when your not using it of course)
Reply:Immediately after using, keep it open, for atleast 10 minutes.
Reply:Do what thickchick said. That is prolly going to do the trick.
Reply:If the smell is baked into the plastic only option may be to get a new one. Remember with the new one to clean after every use and cover all food for better longevity.
Reply:You can get a small bowl of water and add to it a cinnamon stick or some ground cinnamon, cloves, whole or whatnot. You can use almost any sweet smelling herb you have in your spice cabinet. Microwave on high for 5 minutes, let stand for another 10 minutes and then wipe the inside clean. The moisture from the water makes everything inside the oven soft, and the herb makes it smell good. Good luck and be careful with the hot water.
Reply:Microwave some lemon juice or vinegar.
Reply:try a citrus based cleaner
Reply:if you crumble up a few pieces of newspaper and leave them in overnight, they will absorb most odors. works well deodorizing tupperware, also.
Reply:Fill a glass of soapy water, put it in there for 5 minutes or so (this will create steam) cleaning will be easier-releasing any stubborn food stains.
Reply:Take a glass bowl and I/4 Vinegar and 1/4 Water place in the microwave and turn on for 1 minute and this will loosen the stains as it steam cleans and it will eliminate the smell. Wipe down with a warm cloth and the contents of the

What are natural car deodorizers?
Im very sensitive to air freshners and aerosol deoderizers. It seems to affect my sinus passages and cause runny nose. Are ther any natural deoderizers I can use?
I appreciate all advice
Eddie.
What are natural car deodorizers?
Hide an open box of baking soda under the seat. It works to absorb odours the same as in your fridge.
Try some essential oils. I like citrus smells so I%26#039;ll drop a drop or two of orange or lemon essential oil on the carpet of my car and it makes it smell nice.
Reply:Open windows, moron!
Reply:You could try oil of peppermint on a rag under your seat. My husband puts dryer sheets under his seats, but it probably wouldn%26#039;t work for you. What about orange extract or something like that? Good luck to u!
Reply:Try baking soda, it works for everywhere else.
Reply:baking soda use the box that you are susposed to put in the fridge works great! I too am sensitive to all kinds of scents.

Where can I buy deodorizers for the kitchen sink....you know to make it smell good.....?
If you have garbage disposal take an orange or lemon, chop it up, put in down the drain and then turn on the garbage disposale for about a minute. Then run some cold tap water and repeat. I hope that helps.
Where can I buy deodorizers for the kitchen sink....you know to make it smell good.....?
Just toss a lemon down there and turn on the garbage disposal.
Reply:The bleach down the garbage disposal and your drains once a month not only cleans the goo out but helps prevent the little house gnats. Gnats love to migrate in the drains and reproduce.
Reply:your kitchen sink should not be smelly. if it is then something is stuck in the p-trap. if you just mean %26quot;i am a compulsive cleaner and have to scrub my sink with something%26quot;, then get good old ajax or clorox. they make flavored clorox now. it smells pretty good. i am sorry. i didn%26#039;t think about the disposal. there are probably several good things you could drop in there to make it smell good.
Reply:I pour a little clorox down my sinks about once a month, you could also use baking soda.

Any cat smell deodorizers that are pet-safe?
You can always use Arm N Hammer Litter Box Deoderizrer if the issue is with the litter box. If you are looking for something safe, such as a spray you can use Fabreeze as mentioned before. Don%26#039;t waste your money on those expensive deoderizres found at most pet stores.....they are a waste of money!!!! (Arm n Hammer is pretty resonable)
Any cat smell deodorizers that are pet-safe?
i use the kind that has crystals in the litter box and the one that is scoopable .
Reply:Fabrize. I use it in my house for my dog and if you use it every day, it works really well. The trick is to use it every day though. (Even in the litter box.)

How do aerosol deodorizers work?
My air spray says is scent free, but it still eliminates any unpleasant odors in the air. THe only active ingredient is triethylene Glycol, and it advertises a killing odor causing bacteria in the air, but how can it coll only the bacteria that cause bad odors, and wouldn%26#039;t the chemicals that cause the smell still be airborne?
How do aerosol deodorizers work?
First of all bacteria don%26#039;t live in the air. They may be airborne by drafts from surfaces or liquids their living on, but there is nothing in air for them to live on. Your product probably is effective at killing bacteria on surfaces or in liquids, so the inference is that it will work as a vapor.
Many deodorizing products mask the smell with a smell (sometimes almost unoticeable) of their own. Others work by adsorbtion of odorous compounds onto their surface.
An aerosol is simply a finely divided solid suspended in a gas, in this case air. An aerosol has an immense surface area, all of which is available for adsorbtion. The quality of the adsorbtive material is dependent on its chemical properties, and its surface area.

Do carpet deodorizers overheat vacuums?
I have that new bagless Infinity vacuum.
Do carpet deodorizers overheat vacuums?
I work in a vac repair/sales shop and I think you should keep using those powdered sprinkles. It is job security for me! Regardless what advertisers say, powdered carpet deodorizers clog filters, hoses, and vacs in general. Even if you clean out the filter, and tap it against garbage can after EVERY use, the microscopic pores are going to stay clogged. The filter%26#039;s life is cut in half from these powders. It not just bagless vacs either, the bags also clog. As I service a vac that the owner uses carpet powder, I need to clean out every crevice. I personally do not use them. If I need to %26#039;freshen%26#039; my carpets, I either shampoo them or use a foam that DRIES and can be vac%26#039;ed up. I think I used a Woolite one last.
I guess to directly answer your question, if the air flow in a bagless vac is restricted, the motor may heat up. I have no direct proof that powders caused a motor failure, but the suction is dramatically reduced.
I apologize for my sarcasm, and I hope this helps.
Reply:No, I%26#039;ve never heard of deoderizers overheating a vacuum...However, if you use a deodorizer regularly 1x a week or more you may have to change or empty the filter more often... It can clog... I have a bagless vacuum HOOVER and I dump and tap my filter everytime I vacuum.... I also like to mix the perfumed baking soda deodorizer with reg. baking soda to make the smelly stuff last longer... I get baking soda by the 12 lb. bag for around $5 I use it for laundry and cleaning so it%26#039;s super cheap... While the petfresh stuff is about $3 or more per container!
Good luck
Reply:I have a bagless bissell and Iuse carpet deodorizers...and I don%26#039;t have a problem with over heating my vac. I don%26#039;t use it on a daily basis. Just 1x per week for the deodorizers....but i vac almost every day ( my daughter has 2 boxers...and they love to play outside.)

Broken Fridge: What to do with rotten meat? Deodorizers besides baking soda? Fridge is really dead?

Reply:Put everything in double garbage bags and sprinkle vinegar over it all and tie the bags really well. Then wash your fridge with vinegar and water and then set a couple of bowls of pure vinegar in the fridge and close it.
This vinegar trick works for any kind of order. I even set some bowls in my dirt basement to take away musty smells. Really works for all kinds of odors.
Reply:Besides baking soda, white vinegar will also absorb the odors. After cleaning with vinegar, put a couple of bowls of ground coffee inside and close the doors.
Like the previous poster said, double bag the spoiled items, use ammonia, and put it all in a trash can with a tight lid.

Air deodorizers?
I am needing any ideas on how to keep my home smelling nice naturally. I have tried all kinds of fresheners that can be bought but nothing works for very long. We live in an area that stays damp and our house smells that way alot. I am currently trying vanilla soaked cotton balls, but that just isn%26#039;t doing it. Any suggestions? Please only serious answers!!!
Air deodorizers?
There are a few things you can do.
Boil a couple of cups of water with some cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla. Then put it to simmer and leave it for an hour or two. Your house will smell wonderfully....and because it was boiled, the smell actually lingers in the fabrics in your house.
If you%26#039;re in a climate where you use a furnace, you can put any scent of dryer sheet just below your vent cover. Lift the vent out, place a couple of sheets in the vent, then put the vent cover back on. Everytime your furnace comes on, the heat comes through the sheets, and the smell fills your house. :o)
As for candles, etc, I find essential oils are the best. Simmering liquid above a tealight....much better, stronger smelling than candles.
Good luck!
Reply:clean it very good that should end your problem. air deodorizers do is make the room smell good not clean it
Reply:try damp rid, try putting white vinegar in a glass and placing it up high like the top of a bookshelf or something, and the febreze air fresheners work nice too
Reply:The Glade plug-in do last a long time as long as you have enough of them for the size of the room.
If you leave potpourri tarts in a basket (especially in rooms where the door is shut) they can add to making the room smell nice.
Boiling water with spices or potpourri adds smell, but you have to worry about watching it.
For all I know this may not be a healthy thing to do, but there is this inexpensive body spray that comes in the %26quot;Body Fantasies%26quot; line of scents that are sold at drugs stores and WalMart.... The spray mist lasts for an amazingly long time. When I know I have someone coming I may spray it around. Because I%26#039;m not sure it would be good to live with doing that all the time I save that for %26quot;special occasions%26quot;.
The Air Wick mobile air with batteries in it isn%26#039;t bad. You can set it to make the fan send scent around at different intervals.
Finding a nice smelling spray cleaner and using it freely helps make the house have a different nice smell.
Eucalyptis, strong-smelling flowers, and pine could be left in little nooks around the house.
Old English wood polish on all your wood keeps that smell for a long time.
Keep soaps around in the bathroom that have a strong but nice smell.
I know I%26#039;m naming off chemicals. When I read your question I was thinking your use of the word, %26quot;naturally%26quot;, meant you wanted it to just seem natural that your house had a nice smell. I%26#039;m now thinking I misinterpreted your use of the word, %26quot;natural%26quot;......

Reply:How much money have I wasted on those stupid room deodorizers, etc etc etc. I do not know NOW why people would waste their money on them. I have found that cleaning with a good washing compound, i.e. Simple Green.... PineSol do wonders.. When I was close to the border of Mexico, I used to buy bottles of vanilla(cheap), put some in a pan and warm it and leave it for an hour or three.. it would freshen up the room. Also used candles which are great but just too pricey
Reply:cheap electric air cleaner.
Reply:You need to get Damp Rid. It is a product made just for this problem, it is natural, calcium chloride, (the stuff that you put on driveways when it snows, a form a salt I think). It works great. Put one in each room, and each closet, and you will not believe the difference.

What are the best carpet deodorizers you have found?
I just shampooed a very dirty carpet thoroughly, and used the enzyme deodorizer to go with the Rug Doctor, but it still stinks. Not pet odor, but just a general dirty smell. I am drying it out now with a dehumidifier, and want to try something that won%26#039;t make it look dirty again, and will eliminate the odor, not mask it, if possible. I am leaning toward Febreze. Does anyone have experience with this? Or other solutions? Thanks!

I%26#039;m afraid it may not be your carpet that%26#039;s causing the odor. It%26#039;s probably the pad under the carpet. I had this situation happen to me... your best solution is to have the carpet professionally cleaned and deodorized. Most guarantee their work, so if it continues to smell they will come back to try to fix the problem. If it%26#039;s the pad, though, they will tell you that the only way to correct the problem is to install a new pad with new carpet.

Reply:plain old baking soda, sprinkle heavily on carpet and let sit for 20 or 30 mins. vac. up and smell will be much better unfortunatly this is a temporary fix but you can reapply as often as needed. also when you shampoo your carpets use only hot water, no soap the soap residue attracts dirt that sticks to the carpet. thats why after a few weeks it always looks dirty again.
Reply:When you shampoo your carpet, put about an ounce of lysol, in with the shampoo that you use. When you are finished, your home will smell good, and it will help clean your carpet..Every time that you need to fill your container, add the lysol..good luck..
Reply:Arm and Hammer is the best I have ever used. It has a really fresh and clean smell. It gets rid of the odor instead of just covering it up.
