Help. Duffle bag still smells like room deodorizer from cruise.?

We went on a carnival cruise in May and noticed our plastic duffle bag smelled like the room deodorizer that was used in the cabin. I%26#039;ve tried airing it out in the sun and spraying it with Lysol to get rid of the smell. Nothing has worked. I stored the bag in my closet hoping the problem would just go away in time and now my closet and everything in it smells as well. I would appreciate any ideas on how to get rid of the smell from the closet and duffle bag. Thanks in advance.

Help. Duffle bag still smells like room deodorizer from cruise.?
try placing an open box of baking soda in the closet with the bag for a week-that should take the smell out--good luck!!!
Reply:Wash the duffle bag gently with a mixture of vinegar and water....about 1 part vinegar with 5 parts water. Let the vinegar %26amp; water sit on it for a while. If that doesn%26#039;t work, you can use a product that eliminates odors..such as Feebrez...
Reply:If you can, by all means wash it! Several times if necessary. You could then try activated charcoal, you can get it from a pet shop that sells fish tank supplies. This absorbs odors best. Maybe try some odor eaters for shoes, if that doesn%26#039;t work. Febreze might work too but it might just wear off after awhile...best would be to put it setting open in the garage or other airy place where it can air out over time and the smell will dissipate...unless your garage smells bad too...that must be some nasty room deodorizer they use on Carnival Cruises...ugh!
Reply:You could try washing the bag and letting it air dry outside. As for the closet... you could take everything out for air, or try some febreeze or another air freshener placed inside the closet.
