I have a couple of suitcases that kind of stink and I was wondering what would be best for taking the smell out? Anything I can just leave in there or do I need to clean it with something? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
Suitcase Deodorizer?
Try sprinkling some fresh baking soda inside the suitcase and leaving it for half an hour or so. Leave it longer if the suitcase is REALLY stinky. The baking soda absorbs bad smells and doesn%26#039;t leave an odor. You may want to pour it out and then vacuum the inside of the suitcase to take all the baking soda out when you%26#039;re done. Make sure the baking soda is FRESH and not from the box you%26#039;ve had sitting in your fridge for a month. That should do the trick.
Reply:Every vacation, I put one of those tiny bars of soap from the hotel in my suitcase, unwrapped....
It makes the suitcase and the laundry coming home smell fresh.
Reply:Baking soda/fabric softner sheets. Both help with odor.
Reply:Febreeze...
Some ceder blocks will help...after the fact...also help keep thebugs away. :D
Wash them with soap %26amp; warm water - use a damp (not wet) cloth or sponge
Reply:And if that didn%26#039;t work, take them outside and put a few lumps of charcoal or baking soda on a paper plate inside each one after scrubbing them. It sounds like mildew.
Reply:Try _Odo ban_.
It is amazing stuff.
Air it out and put some dryer sheets inside before closing.
Reply:i would use a little febreze and leave a couple of dryer sheets in them.
Reply:Setting an open box or bowl of baking soda inside then closing the suitcase might help a lot. Vinegar is also a good odor absorber but you would have to be very careful about not spilling that. If letting something like the soda sit in there for a couple of days doesn%26#039;t work then you will probably have to move up to actually cleaning the suitcase. The best way of doing that will depend on what it%26#039;s made out of.
Hope the soda works! *:*
Reply:The best thing for your suitcases is plenty fresh air. leave them outside for the day. You can also sponge them down with a little water with a touch of lemon . then put them outside
Reply:What about leaving them open in the hot sun or open in a hot car to bake for a few days to a week.
Store them propped open.with bars of soap (with a pleasant odor) in them if you have space in your house.
Next time: Before leaving home, pack a few big plastic garbage bags and large brown grocery bags. On vacation, put dirty clothes in a big PAPER grocery bag. Same for shoes. Then when packing your luggage for your trip home, lower the dirty paper bag of laundry /or shoes in big plastic bags. The paper bag absorbs the moisture. When you arrive home, take all dirty laundry and shoes out of your luggage right away.
