Do those little deodorizer balls work at eliminating hockey stank?

Alright, my hockey bag is stanking up my office right now...but I have seen little deodorizer balls that are supposed to eliminate the dreaded bag scent. Anybody try them???

Ordinarily, I associate balls with smelling bad, so you can see why I%26#039;m skeptical.

LITY hasn%26#039;t been around much this week, but he answered a similar question with soap shavings in the bottom of the bag, his personal choice was Irish Spring. I tried it with Ivory and found that it did in fact help. I have only been doing it for about a week now but I have noticed a difference.
Reply:I spray my equipment with straight up Lysol! (and air it out) Hockey gear stinks because bacteria love it damp and dark. Kill %26#039;em.
Reply:Nothing really gets rid of the smell but you can cover it up. I%26#039;d use lysol or febreeze

Do not use mothballs your whole bag will smell very strongly of mothballs but still smell like hockey and moth balls isnt a very manly smell to be walking into the locker room with
Reply:Nips is yanking your chain! lol

Use the ceder balls.
Reply:yeah, they do work.

i bought some at the proshop at my rink and they didnt techincally get rid of the smell, but the kindof neutralize and make the bag smell like the scent.
Reply:Try moth balls. You will be a *hero* in the locker room
