Air deodorizers?

I am needing any ideas on how to keep my home smelling nice naturally. I have tried all kinds of fresheners that can be bought but nothing works for very long. We live in an area that stays damp and our house smells that way alot. I am currently trying vanilla soaked cotton balls, but that just isn%26#039;t doing it. Any suggestions? Please only serious answers!!!

Air deodorizers?
There are a few things you can do.

Boil a couple of cups of water with some cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla. Then put it to simmer and leave it for an hour or two. Your house will smell wonderfully....and because it was boiled, the smell actually lingers in the fabrics in your house.

If you%26#039;re in a climate where you use a furnace, you can put any scent of dryer sheet just below your vent cover. Lift the vent out, place a couple of sheets in the vent, then put the vent cover back on. Everytime your furnace comes on, the heat comes through the sheets, and the smell fills your house. :o)

As for candles, etc, I find essential oils are the best. Simmering liquid above a tealight....much better, stronger smelling than candles.

Good luck!
Reply:clean it very good that should end your problem. air deodorizers do is make the room smell good not clean it
Reply:try damp rid, try putting white vinegar in a glass and placing it up high like the top of a bookshelf or something, and the febreze air fresheners work nice too
Reply:The Glade plug-in do last a long time as long as you have enough of them for the size of the room.

If you leave potpourri tarts in a basket (especially in rooms where the door is shut) they can add to making the room smell nice.

Boiling water with spices or potpourri adds smell, but you have to worry about watching it.

For all I know this may not be a healthy thing to do, but there is this inexpensive body spray that comes in the %26quot;Body Fantasies%26quot; line of scents that are sold at drugs stores and WalMart.... The spray mist lasts for an amazingly long time. When I know I have someone coming I may spray it around. Because I%26#039;m not sure it would be good to live with doing that all the time I save that for %26quot;special occasions%26quot;.

The Air Wick mobile air with batteries in it isn%26#039;t bad. You can set it to make the fan send scent around at different intervals.

Finding a nice smelling spray cleaner and using it freely helps make the house have a different nice smell.

Eucalyptis, strong-smelling flowers, and pine could be left in little nooks around the house.

Old English wood polish on all your wood keeps that smell for a long time.

Keep soaps around in the bathroom that have a strong but nice smell.

I know I%26#039;m naming off chemicals. When I read your question I was thinking your use of the word, %26quot;naturally%26quot;, meant you wanted it to just seem natural that your house had a nice smell. I%26#039;m now thinking I misinterpreted your use of the word, %26quot;natural%26quot;......

Oops. Sorry. Disregard everything I%26#039;ve said. I%26#039;ll send it anyway in case my first interpretation was correct.
Reply:try moth balls
Reply:How much money have I wasted on those stupid room deodorizers, etc etc etc. I do not know NOW why people would waste their money on them. I have found that cleaning with a good washing compound, i.e. Simple Green.... PineSol do wonders.. When I was close to the border of Mexico, I used to buy bottles of vanilla(cheap), put some in a pan and warm it and leave it for an hour or three.. it would freshen up the room. Also used candles which are great but just too pricey
Reply:cheap electric air cleaner.
Reply:You need to get Damp Rid. It is a product made just for this problem, it is natural, calcium chloride, (the stuff that you put on driveways when it snows, a form a salt I think). It works great. Put one in each room, and each closet, and you will not believe the difference.
