Air Deodorizer / Air Cleaner help?

Hi Everyone,

First time using this, and it%26#039;s because I%26#039;m desperate for help.

My Question is this:

My roomate who lives with me, always stays in his room (yes its terrible), and the thing is he often eats takeout in his room and doesnt throw it away right away, so it starts to smell up his room, and it leaks into the apartment. I%26#039;ve asked him to clean up more often but being in university, hes often busy which is understandable.

So I%26#039;ve tried the plug in air fresheners but I think MASKING the problem isn%26#039;t effective as solving it. I want to know if anyone has any good recommendations for a machine that effectively eliminates ODORS as the top priority?

I%26#039;m a bit confused as to whether air cleaners / air purifiers actually tackle the odor issue as well? For example, the Surround Air XJ2100 or the Ionic Breeze. Most of these focus on cleaning the air from allergens etc., not really the ODOR in the air.

Hope you guys can help. Thanks so much!

I%26#039;ve never used either of the systems you mentioned. I think the solution, however, lies in throwing the food out before the smell begins to permeate the rest of the apartment. Surely, he could keep a trash bag for leftovers and food scraps in his room. He could bring it out to the kitchen once a day for disposal with the rest of the garbage.

My concern would be that the food scraps may attract roaches and ants.

I would come up with a solution to solve the problem, not cover it up. Good luck.
Reply:Febreeze ,febreeze .Spray the drapes or curtains ,spray the mattress ,the carpet ,his clothes ,its safe on fabric ,buy a plug in also ,Girl get you some and go wild or nuts spraying ,who cares .

open the windows also .

I would have a nice talking with your roommate ,don%26#039;t allow food in the bedrooms.I%26#039;m sure you have a kitchen or dinning room .

just imagine all the ants ,or fleas come on take control of the situation .Its your place also .What does it say about yourself?
Reply:Being busy is no excuse for being selfish.

It doesn%26#039;t take that much extra time for him to throw his food out in a place that doesn%26#039;t disturb his roommates.

Unless you can tell him either not to eat in his room or to throw the food out in a place which is not going to smell up the apartment youre going to have to open the windows and air the place out, it%26#039;s the only way.
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard OUST is good. It actually kills the bacteria that causes the bad smell.

If you are just wanting to cover it up- use febreez, candles, fragrance lamps or sprays.
